The Satusma Mandarain is a uniquely flavored citrus fruit with in rich history. Smaller than its orange cousin, its exotic flavor, lack of seeds and its ability to be easily peeled make it a an ideal hand fruit.
Satsuma Mandarins, also known in China as Wenzhou Migan, were introduced over 2,400 years ago in Wenzhou, China. The Satsuma was eventually introduced to Japan by a buddist monk in 1429. In 1876, on trip to the United States, a spouse of an US embassy worker from Satsuma Japan brought the Migan to the US.
